Privacy Policy
thegoats.org is an open, data driven combat sports rating platform. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: you can browse without an account, our analytics are cookieless, we do not store your email, and we never sell your data.
§ 01 Browsing without an account
You can read the rankings, methodology, and other public pages without signing in. We do not require an account and we do not set advertising or tracking cookies. Our usage analytics are privacy first: they are aggregate and cookieless, and they do not store identifiers that pick you out as an individual. Our servers keep standard, short lived request logs (for example IP address and browser type) to operate and secure the site.
§ 02 When you sign in
Community accounts use Google sign in. When you sign in, Google gives us a stable account identifier for you (a random string, not your email), along with a suggested name and avatar that you are free to change. We store a display name you choose, an avatar you select, your community activity (posts, comments, votes, and the karma they earn), and an invite code.We do not store your email address. Your Google password is never shared with us.
§ 03 Images you upload
If you add an image to a post or comment, we host it on our own storage and serve it from our content network. Before it goes live, an automated moderation service checks it for prohibited content. We keep a record of which account uploaded each image so we can moderate and remove it if needed. Please only upload images you have the right to share.
§ 04 How we use your data
We use this information to run the community: to show and attribute your posts, to compute karma and reputation, to enforce our rules through moderation, to prevent abuse, and to keep the service secure and working. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not build advertising profiles.
§ 05 Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. We use trusted infrastructure providers to run the service, including Amazon Web Services for hosting, storage, and automated image moderation, and Google for sign in. These providers process data on our behalf under their own agreements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.
§ 06 Your choices
You can change your display name and avatar at any time from your account menu. You can delete your own posts and comments. If you want your account and associated community data removed, contact us at the address below and we will delete it. Signing out ends your session on the device you are using.
§ 07 Retention
We keep your profile and community content while your account is active. Request logs are kept only briefly for operations and security. Abandoned image uploads that are never used are pruned automatically.
§ 08 Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and accounts are intended for adults and older teens who can consent to these terms. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
§ 09 Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service evolves, and we will change the date at the top when we do. Questions or requests: hello@thegoats.org.
